Christina's mother, Penny Carew of West Haven, is the mother Prom Dresses eight children and the legal guardian to two others, but she's more than happy to jump into a situation where she can help somebody out. She said she had once entertained the idea of starting a kind of consignment operation from her garage, recycling coats and sweaters to whoever might need them, for free. Now, with this prom dress idea, she and her husband and Christina made space to hang prom Beaded One Shoulder Short Graducation Dress in their house, and started putting out the word, on Facebook and in conversations with friends, that they were hoping to recycle dresses.

"It's been amazing," says Penny. "We immediately got 15 prom dresses and some other short-length cocktail-style dresses. People have brought shoes and clutch bags, too." And more are on the way. Many of the dresses that have already come in are expensive gowns with beads and sequins. They come in all colors and sizes, too. If their inventory gets too huge, they're going to have to move some furniture out to make sure the dresses have a good place to hang. They say they'll be ready to help out with not only prom season, but with any of the semi-formal dances that take place in February, too.
